I stress ate most of 2020 away and I can feel some of the brides-to-be out there doing the same thing while they plan out their special days and try not to pull their hair out. If you're like me and love food of all varieties no matter what your emotional state is though, you might be the internet definition of a "foodie." Food brings people together - and isn't that what a wedding is all about? If you love how food looks, smells, tastes, and so does your significant other, I can't recommend the following ideas for your wedding day highly enough!

Mini Bars/Food Stations

Cheese, charcuteries, donuts, popcorn, sliders, soup, tacos, sub sandwiches... The possibilities are endless. If you're having trouble agreeing with your fiancé on what food should be at your wedding, try having to or three different food bars for your guests to peruse. These bars can function as appetizers/snacks or be treated like a buffet-style meal. This way, you can get a little bit of all your favorite foods on your wedding day. The most important thing is that YOU have fun at your wedding, after all!

Alternatives to Cake

Pizza, pie, s'mores, candy apples... Again, possibilities are endless and they're based on what kind of a couple you and your significant other are. If you aren't sweets people, try something like pizza or pretzels instead of cake. If you aren't cake people but still want something sweet, think outside the box! You aren't limited in what you can have for your special day.

Food Favors

Olive oils, honey jars, dry cookie or hot chocolate mixes, hot sauces, mint tins, and cup cakes are just a few of the things I've seen whilst scrolling through Pinterest to find out what brides in 2020 are looking for. These little treats can be the perfect way to send your guests home with something that unites you and your significant other: food. The icing on the cake (in my opinion, at least) is that a lot of these ideas come with adorable puns, like, "Simply MINT to be," "The perfect blend," or "We do... love cookies!" If you have a friend of the family who sells something of this caliber, you could also go this route in order to support their small business.

Have a Picnic Wedding

Guests take a basket at the entrance to your ceremony or reception, take whatever treats they'd like to munch on, and then take a seat on one of the many blankets you've laid out for them instead of rows of chairs. Especially for social-distanced or small weddings, this can be a delightful and romantic way to bring your guests into the space. You could even set up a few chairs around the edge of your space for those who might have bad knees! We've had a lot of suggestions for winter weddings lately, so I thought it would be nice to add in something for a summer wedding.

Try Some Floral-infused Drinks

For those of you who like to get the party going with some libations, let me suggest that you have a themed drink for both the bride and the groom. One or both could even have floral notes to make it especially elegant and personal. Try, for instance, using your favorite flower in your signature cocktail. This is a fun idea to spice up the drink bar.
